How to Confirm Marine Pump, Valve and Seal Spare Parts

Pumps, valves & seals

Before Sending the RFQ

For pumps, valves, mechanical seals, O-rings and gaskets, the vessel application matters as much as the short item name. The RFQ should explain what the item does onboard and how it connects to the system.

For pumps, collect operating data

Pump nameplate, flow rate, head, rotation direction, motor data, connection size and working medium are useful for matching. Photos of the complete pump and nameplate are better than a cropped part photo.

For valves, confirm size and standard

Valve inquiries should include nominal size, pressure class, connection type, body material, seat or seal material and medium. A photo of the valve body marking is often very helpful.

For seals and gaskets, measure carefully

Mechanical seals, O-rings and gaskets should be confirmed by dimensions, material, cross-section and working condition. Old sample photos can help when part numbers are missing.

FAQ

Common Questions

Can a valve be quoted from size only?

Size is not enough. Pressure rating, connection type, body material, seal material and medium can all affect compatibility.

What is most important for seal inquiries?

Dimensions, material, cross-section, working medium and photos of the old sample are usually the most useful details.
